Finalmente se presentan los acuerdos logrados al final del encuentro.

Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) High-level Segment

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) coordinates the work of UN agencies related to economic and social development. It discusses international economic and social issues and formulates policy recommendations at meetings and consultations through the year. At the high-level segment of ECOSOC, ministers and executive heads of international institutions and other high-ranking officials join civil society and private sector representatives to discuss key issues on the international agenda.

Join Indo-US Workshop on Climate Change and Health

Climate change has enormous and diverse impacts on human society. These impacts include significant and diverse threats to human health stemming from extreme heat, weather-related disasters, shifting patterns of infectious disease and vector borne diseases, exacerbations of air pollution effects, food and water scarcity amongst others. Developing countries, such as India, will bear the brunt of these public health impacts as these impacts are expected to become even more severe in the future.

The first part of the ninth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) and the first part of the seventh session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) will take place between Monday 28 September and Friday 9 October 2009 at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

Día Internacional para la Reducción de los Desastres Naturales
A través de la Resolución 44/236 (22 de diciembre de 1989), la Asamblea General designó el segundo miércoles de octubre como Día Internacional para la Reducción de los Desastres Naturales, fecha que fue observada anualmente desde 1990 hasta 1999. En 2001, la Asamblea General decidió seguir observando el segundo miércoles de octubre de cada año, el Día Internacional para la Reducción de los Desastres Naturales (Resolución 56/195, de 21 de diciembre) como medio de promover una cultura mundial de reducción de los desastres naturales, que comprenda la prevención, mitigación y preparación.

United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009

The United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, between December 7 and December 18, 2009. The conference includes the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 15) and the 5th Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 5). According to the Bali roadmap, a framework for climate change mitigation beyond 2012 is to be agreed there.
