The report ‘Australian agriculture: reducing emissions and adapting to a changing climate’ explains the key findings from the Climate Change Research Program (CCRP). The report highlights the outcomes of the research program identifying ways in which farmers can reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions whilst increasing productivity. The report also discusses some of the challenges that farmers and fishers will face when adapting to a changing climate.

U.S. Global Change Research Program

The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) was established by Presidential Initiative in 1989 and mandated by Congress in the Global Change Research Act (GCRA) of 1990 to develop and coordinate “a comprehensive and integrated United States research program which will assist the Nation and the world to understand, assess, predict, and respond to human-induced and natural processes of global change.”

In consultation with White House officials and the Subcommittee on Global Change Research (SGCR), USGCRP's Executive Director ensures that the Program meets all mandated requirements, which are summarized in the table below.

NSW DPI has established the climate risk management team to assist farmers to improve their short term decision-making in response to seasonal climate variability (El Nino, Southern Oscillation Index). The team also undertakes a broader extension and education role for farmers, on climate change and climate variability.
